Delta Goodrem sends emotional message to fans ahead of Strictly return

Delta Goodrem will return to Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday after missing week four of the competition with a fractured rib.

The Australian singer, 41, said that she is “grateful” to return to the BBC show following the “frustrating” injury.

She is partnered with professional dancer Kai Widdrington, and the pair will perform a rumba to Celine Dion's “It's All Coming Back To Me Now” on Saturday night.

Goodrem set out her recovery in a post on Instagram, which was accompanied by clips of her in hospital.

She said that she "filmed little moments over the past two weeks" to remind herself that "even on the frustrating days, there would be progress".

She went on: "I was gutted when the injury happened as I've been truly loving this experience so much.

"It's hard to be patient when you want to be full force again but I've been listening, taking things carefully and learning to appreciate the small steps.

"Heading into show day feeling grateful to be able to take a few more tonight with all the incredible help from everyone around me.

“To all my warriors out there in your own battles, I see you and am with you, we are fighters.”

In the hospital clips, she could be seen getting tearful as she thanked fans for their support and said that she hoped to return to the show.

In Goodrem’s absence last week, Widdrington danced with fellow Strictly pro Amy Dowden to “Jolene” in a tribute to the musical legend Dolly Parton, who died in August at the age of 80.

BBC rules state that each contestant can only skip one week of the show before having to withdraw.

Week five of the current series will feature all 12 remaining contestants back on the ballroom floor.

Dani Dyer will dance a salsa to Rosalia's “Despecha” alongside professional Nikita Kuzmin.

Actress Bethany Antonia, who landed in the bottom two last week and narrowly avoided elimination, will perform the Argentine tango with professional Nancy Xu to “All The Things She Said” by Harrison.
