Develop distinct tourism identities ahead of Visit Sabah Year 2027, districts urged

KOTA BELUD: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has urged every district in Sabah to establish its own distinct tourism identity and products ahead of Visit Sabah Year 2027.

Speaking at the opening of Tamu Besar Kota Belud 2026, he highlighted that the district's inclusion in the Kinabalu Unesco Global Geopark since May 2023 reflects its immense potential alongside Sabah's broader tourism appeal.

The event was graced by Head of State Tun Musa Aman and his wife, Toh Puan Faridah Tussin.

Hajiji stressed that expanding local heritage into tourism offerings ensures economic gains reach grassroots stakeholders, including homestay operators, farmers, small traders, and craft producers.

He added that the State Government remains committed to upgrading key infrastructure, such as the nearly completed Kota Belud-Wariu section of the Pan Borneo Highway and a new Digital Economy Centre, to support regional economic growth.
