Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (DFP) is presenting its DFP Seni Festival 2024, an extravaganza of music and performing arts which will span three months. image is not available

On A Roll

This is the sixth time the DFP has organised an event of such magnitude with an aim to provide the stage for Malaysia’s traditional and heritage art forms to be showcased to the world. Prior to this, DFP has been collaborating with various cultural groups and artists with objectives to preserve, nurture and promote the rich diversity of our invaluable art forms.

This festival will commence with the artistry of Jit Sin High School’s Chinese Orchestra on Saturday, 20 July 2024 at 8.30 pm. Themed Dialogue of the Songs of Chu, this concert will showcase orchestral Chinese music with a mesmerising dialogue between the erhu and the cello featuring the talents of Tan Rou Yee and Lim Sing Yee respectively. image is not available

An Artsy Treat

Next, arts enthusiasts will be treated to a traditional theatre of Mek Mulung on Saturday, 27 July 2024 at 8.30 pm. Themed DFP Muzikal: Mek Mulung Putera Cahaya Bulan, the presentation of the 500-year theatre is DFP’s collaboration with Department of Culture & Arts (or Jabatan Kebudayaan & Kesenian Negara, JKKN) and Kumpulan Mek Mulung Seri Mahawangsa (a combination of Persatuan Penggerak Warisan Seni Budaya Negeri Kedah or ‘AKRAB’, and more.image is not available

The festival continues with a traditional Minangkabau folk theatre called ‘Randai’ scheduled on Saturday, 10 August 2024 at 8.30 pm. Audiences will enjoy a musical splendour in an enchanting world themed DFP Muzikal: Randai Mudo Pak Belalang where martial arts and dance come to life. image is not available
