DigiPlus net income drops to P2.8B in Q1

DIGIPLUS Interactive Corp. on Tuesday reported a 33-percent drop in first-quarter net income to P2.8 billion as regulatory changes and weaker consumer sentiment weighed on its core gaming business.

In a disclosure, the company said total revenues fell 25 percent year on year to P17.2 billion while earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization plunged by 42 percent to P2.6 billion.

The downturn was largely attributed to the delinking of e-wallet access from licensed online gaming platforms, which affected user activity and transaction flows, alongside softer spending due to the global fuel crisis.

“Our first-quarter performance reflects the softness following the delinking of licensed gaming platforms from e-wallet access points, which has affected user activity and transaction flows,” DigiPlus Chairman Eusebio Tanco said.

“Nonetheless, our fundamentals remain intact, and we remain confident in the long-term growth trajectory of the business as we adapt our payments ecosystem, strengthen player engagement and continue to lead with responsible, innovative digital entertainment,” he added.

Revenues were broadly flat compared to P17.3 billion in the fourth quarter of 2025 while net income rose 15 percent from the preceding three months, supported by gains from the gaming firm’s investment in convertible bonds issued by International Entertainment Corp.

The company said it maintained a strong financial position, with cash and cash equivalents at P20.5 billion as of end-March and minimal debt of P745.8 million, resulting in a low debt-to-equity ratio of 0.02.

DigiPlus said it contributed P5.4 billion in taxes and regulatory fees during the quarter.

Despite weaker earnings, the company said it continued to expand its partnerships and product offerings.

Its sportsbook platform, ArenaPlus, secured a multiyear deal with the National Basketball Association (NBA) as its first official betting partner in the Philippines, integrating NBA branding into its platform.

DigiPlus also entered into an exclusive partnership with boxing icon Manny Pacquiao for co-branded gaming content, along with the integration of MannyPay as a payment gateway across its platforms including BingoPlus, ArenaPlus and GameZone.

The company said these initiatives formed part of efforts to strengthen user engagement and diversify revenue streams amid evolving market conditions.

DigiPlus shares on Tuesday dropped P0.10, or 0.67 percent, to close at P14.80 each.
