ALOR GAJAH: The Ministry of Digital is discussing measures to expand its Executive Digital Leadership (EDP) training centres to the state level. This move aims to facilitate easier access for participants who currently face logistical challenges.
Minister Gobind Singh Deo said the training centre is currently located only in Kuala Lumpur. Participants must undergo three months of training at this single location.
“The EDP programme focuses on training participants to utilise Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance performance in various fields by using data for analysis,” he said. He explained that a teacher in the programme could assess a student’s potential more accurately using data.
Gobind spoke to reporters after attending the Digital Leadership Symposium for National-Type Tamil School headmasters. The event is part of the MADANI Education Reform 2026 initiative.
The three-day symposium is attended by 470 headmasters from such schools nationwide. It began yesterday and concludes tomorrow.
The minister said the EDP programme is offered free to civil servants at specific grades. For federal officers, it is open to those at Grade 13, while state officers must be at Grade 12.
For the private sector, the ministry provides incentives by sponsoring RM25,000 for each participant. The programme is currently welcoming applications for its 11th cohort.
Each cohort consists of 50 participants. Individuals interested in joining can visit the Ministry of Digital’s official website for more information.
