PUTRAJAYA -The Digital Ministry continues to strengthen the public sector digital transformation agenda by integrating Agentic Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the MyGOV Malaysia application to deliver smarter, more proactive and people-centred public services.
In a statement today, the ministry said the technology would transform MyGOV from a portal that consolidates government services into a digital assistant capable of helping users complete transactions more quickly and efficiently.
"Agentic AI represents an evolution in artificial intelligence that can improve how people interact with digital government services.
"Unlike conventional AI, which generally responds to user instructions, Agentic AI can understand context, plan appropriate actions and assist with tasks across multiple digital services, subject to established permissions, governance and controls,” it said in a statement.
The ministry said that with Agentic AI, users will no longer need to know which government agency or system provides a particular service.
"They can describe their needs in simple language, allowing the system to identify relevant services and provide step-by-step guidance. Where available and authorised by the user, it can also help complete tasks through the relevant government systems.
"For example, the Agentic AI technology can guide users checking police fines to the payment menu and assist them until the transaction is completed,” the statement read.
The ministry said the approach would reduce digital bureaucracy and make public services easier to navigate.
It said the phased rollout will follow the Public Sector AI Adoption Guidelines, with safeguards covering security, data privacy, information accuracy, AI governance, transparency and human oversight.
According to the statement, the implementation of Agentic AI in MyGOV Malaysia will be implemented in stages and responsibly, taking into account aspects of security, data privacy, information accuracy, AI governance, transparency and human control.
The initiative supports efforts to build a smarter and more agile MADANI Government, as well as Malaysia’s ambition to become an AI nation by 2030.
As of last month, MyGOV Malaysia had more than 2.9 million users and offered 52 services from 19 government agencies.
Agentic AI entered beta testing on the platform at the beginning of this month.
"With Agentic AI, MyGOV Malaysia will continue to develop as a single gateway that connects people with the government while making public services faster, simpler and more responsive,” the ministry added. - BERNAMA
