  • The funeral for Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva, who died in a car crash in Spain, was held in Gondomar, Portugal.
  • The service was attended by Jota's family, Liverpool manager Arne Slot, captain Virgil Van Dijk, and numerous teammates.
  • Prominent figures from Portuguese football, including national team-mates like Bruno Fernandes and Bernardo Silva, along with Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and Prime Minister Luis Montenegro, were also present.
  • Jota and Silva died early on Thursday morning when the Lamborghini they were travelling in crashed and burst into flames on the A-52 in Spain, with a suspected tyre blowout and speeding under investigation.
  • Liverpool Football Club postponed pre-season activities and lowered flags to half-mast at Anfield as a mark of respect for Jota and his brother.
