Chongqing: Sabah is seeking to attract more Chinese tourists, with direct flights from Chongqing expected to support efforts ahead of Visit Sabah 2027.
State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Jafry Ariffin said Chongqing Airlines’ three-times-weekly direct Chongqing-Kota Kinabalu service gave Sabah an advantage in tapping China’s outbound tourism market.
“From Chongqing to Sabah, it’s just one direct flight away. No complicated journey, just pack your bags and come experience Sabah,” he said at the Sabah B2C Roadshow here on Saturday.
Jafry said China remained a key market for Sabah, adding that greater air connectivity could bring more opportunities to the State’s tourism industry and local communities.
The roadshow brought together 10 Sabah tourism industry representatives and Chinese travel trade partners to promote Sabah’s islands, wildlife, nature, culture and adventure offerings.
