Although Malaysia has since lifted restrictions on entry into premises based on vaccination status, some places still require a person to be fully inoculated against COVID-19 before entry or participation in activities, within reason, of course.

RGB Cafe in Kuala Lumpur is one of them. Unfortunately, the cafe was bombarded with a slew of 1-star reviews after putting up a Facebook notice regarding their dine-in policy, which is reserved for vaccinated-onlies and those with “low risk” status on the MySejahtera app.

On Google Reviews, those who gave a measly star to the vegan eatery cried “discrimination.” On Twitter, someone called the cafe a “sheeple,” which is a term coined by anti-vaxxers that refers to people who get vaccinated against COVID-19 and follow SOPs.

RGB Cafe today responded by calling out keyboard warriors and defending their policy, saying it is to protect their guests and staff, especially one elderly person, from COVID-19, as the owner has witnessed others suffer from the virus’ terrible side effects.

The cafe owner, Li Chan, also added that they do not want to argue about how the policy makes the unvaccinated feel, if unwelcome at their place.

“We actually pay for extra staffing to man the door. We would make more money by not caring.”

Unfortunately, we do care,” she wrote on Facebook, adding that she would like to minimize the risk of infection, if possible until a cure is found.

The cafe’s ratings have fallen from 4.5 stars to 3.8 stars, but on the bright side, people are coming to the premise’s defense.

What do you think of this? While the cafe reserves its right to refuse any guest for whatever reason, in this case, vaccination status, does it count as discrimination?
