KUALA LUMPUR - The Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, emphasised that displaying a marked ballot paper to the public is an offense under the Election Offences (EO) Act 1954.
Razarudin stated that the police will conduct an investigation if any party comes forward to file a police report regarding the matter.
"As of 6pm., no parties have come forward to make a report regarding this matter. If there are reports, we will investigate," he said at a press conference at Bukit Aman on Saturday.
Today, media reported that the Caretaker Kedah Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, was alleged to have violated the EO Act 1954 by deliberately displaying a ballot paper to media personnel.
His action drew criticism on social media as images were shared showing Muhammad Sanusi displaying the ballot paper while his image was being captured by media personnel before it was placed in the ballot box.
During the same press conference, Razarudin stated that they are satisfied with the progress of the state elections held in the six states.
"We are always prepared, and I am very satisfied with their tasks in the field," he said.
