Sabah Aquatic Sports Association (Sasa) president Daniel Lee, who congratulated the team, was delighted the contingent managed to improve their performance from the previous meet in June.
According to him, their preparation for the Kuching trip was compromised and they had to use the dry gym for training due to upgrading works at the Likas Aquatic Centre.
“The improved performance from the divers despite the lack of training facilities was a clear indication of the coaches’ commitment towards developing diving in the State, and I hope these divers will continue to train hard,” he said in a statement on Friday.
He expressed his gratitude to the Youth and Sports Ministry and Sabah Sports Council for the support provided so that they were able to train at the Pandalela Rinong Aquatic Centre a week before the competition.
He also thanked the Ministry and Sabah Sports Board for the upgrading works at the aquatic centre and urged all parties to be patient on the reopening of the pool.
