Under the directions of the Punjab State Legal Services Authority, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kapurthala organised a legal awareness seminar titled “Insaaf Sabhna Lai” at village Pandori in Sub-Division Phagwara to spread awareness regarding free legal aid services.

During the seminar, Para Legal Volunteer Surinder Pal Singh, Advocate Rajni Bala, and other speakers informed the attendees about the various legal services being provided by the District Legal Services Authority, Kapurthala. They stated that the authority provides free legal assistance to safeguard the rights of weaker and underprivileged sections of society.

The speakers explained that members belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, women, children, mentally challenged persons, differently-abled individuals, industrial workers, detainees, victims of forced labour, people affected by natural disasters or major crises and individuals with an annual income of up to Rs 3 lakh are eligible to avail free legal aid services.

They further informed that under the free legal aid scheme, beneficiaries are provided free services of advocates in courts, exemption from court fees, process fees, witness expenses and all other litigation-related costs.

The organisers stated that the primary objective of the seminar was to ensure that information regarding free legal services reaches the maximum number of people so that no needy person is deprived of justice due to lack of awareness.

During the event, the speakers also appealed to parents to closely monitor the activities of their children to protect them from falling into bad company or drug abuse.
