DMCI Holdings Q2 net surges to P6.5B

LISTED conglomerate DMCI Holdings Inc. posted a 61-percent increase in second-quarter (Q2) net income to P6.5 billion from P4.0 billion a year earlier, driven by stronger contributions from its mining, power, real estate, construction and cement businesses.

In a disclosure on Friday, the Consunji-led company said the strong second-quarter result led to a 26-percent rise in the group’s consolidated net income for the first six months of 2026 to P11.4 billion from P9.0 billion in the same period last year. The profit increase from January to June was largely attributed to record earnings from its nickel mining business and a sharp improvement in the performance of its cement unit.Semirara Mining and Power Corp. remained the group’s largest earnings contributor during the second quarter, posting a net income of P2.7 billion, up 17 percent from P2.3 billion a year earlier. Semirara’s record power generation results more than offset weaker coal operations, with the power segment accounting for 96 percent of its earnings during the period, DMCI said.Another subsidiary, DMCI Mining, delivered a record P1.3 billion in second-quarter earnings, nearly four times the P344 million posted a year earlier, following strong shipment volumes and the full-quarter contribution of its Long Point mine. The start of commercial operations at Long Point also saw the number of the company’s active mines increase to three.Real estate arm DMCI Homes reported a 49-percent increase in net income to P1.0 billion from P705 million, supported by higher residential revenues, fewer cancellation reversals and improved operating margins.Off-grid electricity provider DMCI Power posted a 9-percent increase in attributable earnings to P406 million from P374 million, driven by record quarterly energy sales after adding new generating capacity in Masbate and Antique.Construction subsidiary D.M. Consunji Inc. also improved its contribution to P195 million from P18 million a year earlier as project margins strengthened. The group’s cement business, Concreat, reduced its attributable net loss to P4 million from P682 million in the second quarter of 2025. DMCI Holdings attributed the turnaround to higher cement sales volumes and selling prices, as well as continued operational improvements.Meanwhile, the company’s share in the earnings of water concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc. declined 17 percent to P810 million from P974 million. DMCI Holdings said this reflected the reduction in its effective ownership following Maynilad’s initial public offering.DMCI Holdings is a diversified conglomerate with interests in construction, real estate, mining, power generation, water distribution and cement. The company’s shares closed unchanged at P7.26 each on Friday amid a 0.20-percent uptick for the benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index.
