DMCI Power Corp. (DPC), the off-grid energy unit of listed DMCI Holdings Inc., has programmed P2.4 billion in capital expenditures (capex) for this year to meet rising demand for power.

“For 2026, DPC has set a P2.4 billion capital expenditure program to build new hybrid, renewable and conventional facilities to support growing demand in its off-grid service areas,” the company said in statement announcing record sales last year.

Comparable figures were not provided, but parent firm DMCI Holdings in March last year said that DMCI Power would be getting P1.6 billion in 2025 to build its capacity.

In an analysts’ briefing in August, DMCI Holdings said that DMCI Power’s capex for 2025 was estimated to be P1.7 billion, up from P1.6 billion in 2026, and that around P600 million had been spent as of the first semester.

In the statement, DMCI Power reported that energy sales had risen to 522.2 gigawatt-hours (GWh) last year, up 6 percent from 491.2 GWh in 2024.

This was said to have been primarily driven by increased capacity following the commissioning of its 12.5-megawatt (MW) Semirara wind project during the second quarter.

Capacity also received a boost from the addition of two 8-MW bunker-fired power plants in Aborlan, Palawan. The additions increased the company’s installed capacity by 18 percent to 188.3 MW for full-year 2025 from 159.8 MW n 2024.

DMCI Power said about 55 percent of the incremental energy sold in 2025 came from newly added wind capacity in the second half, with the rest coming from the steady output of its existing plants.

“Delivering our highest sales for the 15th consecutive year reflects the growing demand in off-grid areas and our continued focus in providing reliable, cost-efficient power,” DMCI Power President Antonio Gatdula Jr. said in the statement.

He added that the inclusion of wind power in the company’s portfolio would support the Department of Energy’s goal to accelerate the development and commercialization of renewable energy in off-grid areas.

DMCI Power operates several thermal, bunker, diesel and wind power plants in Masbate, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan and Antique.

Shares of parent firm DMCI Holdings closed at P10.80 apiece on Friday, up 1.31 percent.
