MANILA, Philippines — Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac assured continued medical assistance and monitoring of an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who remains in intensive care following an attack at King Khalid International Airport (KKIA) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
In a statement posted on Friday night, DMW reported that the OFW remained comatose and intubated after sustaining injuries during the Oct. 10, 2026 attack.
Citing an Oct. 15 report from Labor Attaché Dominador Salangga of the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Riyadh, Cacdac confirmed that the OFW had undergone successful surgical operations and showed improvement in her Glasgow Coma Scale score.
“The good news is that the surgical operations were successful, and from 3/15 on the Glasgow Coma Scale score, she is now at 9/15, based on the report of our Labor Attaché in Riyadh on October 15, 2026,” Cacdac stated.
Seven OFWs initially required medical attention following the attack, including three who were admitted to intensive care units.
Two of those previously confined in the ICU have since been transferred to hospital wards, while the other patients have been discharged.
