A doctor has criticized the Boston Red Sox for their handling of Roman Anthony’s recovery from injury.
The outfielder was seen fielding balls hit off the Green Monster at Fenway Park, days after interim manager Chad Tracy confirmed he had not made any genuine progress on a recent wrist injury.
Anthony was originally expected to miss only a short period of action but he has now been added to the 60-day injury list.
That news has not gone down well with Jesse Morse, M.D. on social media platform X.
Morse slams Red Sox
Taking to social media after the news that Anthony had been moved to the 60-day injury list, he wrote: “Roman Anthony to the 60-Day Injured List
“Remember when this ‘wrist sprain’ was listed as day-to-day on 5/5/26?
“Well see the tweet below.
“Now he’s schedule to miss a ton more time.
“This is unacceptable and needs to be called out.
“Gross incompetence and player mismanagement.”
“The Red Sox literally sabotaged ONE OF THE TOP PROSPECTS IN BASEBALL’s first full season in the bigs.”
Morse is a Red Sox fan and has criticized the way in which the team deal with injuries.
Back in May, Anthony – during his first season in the big leagues – was placed on the 10-day injured list. The Florida native has batted .229 (25-for-109) with five doubles, one triple, one home run and five RBI in 30 appearances this season.
It currently remains to be seen when the left-hand hitter will be able to return from his injury, however.
On Sunday, the Red Sox completed a four-game sweep over the Yankees. They won 5-4 in 10 innings, providing some welcome relief for fans after a difficult spell. Tracy praised the support of the fans, hailing it as a special four days.
It was their first MLB four-game winning streak of the season and their first since August 2018.
Sonny Gray was the key reason for the final series win over the Yankees, taking a no-hitter all the way to the eighth inning before Amed Rosario singled with one out. Gray’s nine strikeouts also took him to over 2,000 in his MLB career, and lowered his ERA for the season to an impressive 2.69.
