THE Department of Energy (DOE) is on track this year to launch the fifth round of the Green Energy Auction Program (GEA-5) covering offshore wind projects, Undersecretary Giovanni Carlo Bacordo told reporters at the World Nuclear Supply Chain Forum in Taguig City on Tuesday.
Preparations for the auction and the development of ports needed to support offshore wind projects were proceeding on schedule, Bacordo noted.
In July, the DOE announced that GEA-5 would be held in December following adjustments to align auction requirements, timelines and implementation arrangements.
Bacordo said the feasibility study for the Batangas Port had been completed, and that the Philippine Ports Authority planned to bid out its development this year.
A company had also won the bidding to develop Pambujan Port in Camarines Norte, Bacordo added, saying that he believed the winning bidder was an international firm.
