
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health has welcomed the release by the Department of Budget and Management of P27.41 billion of funds for its Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients Program (MAIFIP).
In a statement on Friday, the DoH said that the funding would enable them to continue addressing the needs of Filipinos with "the most critical healthcare needs,"
The bulk of the funding will be channedl through its Centers for Health Development to ensure that the assistance reaches various provinces, not just the major hospitals here in Metro Manila.
It also vowed to strengthen the electronic MAIFIP program through the eGovPH platform to make the processing of assistance easier and more efficient.
The P27.41 billion is part of the P56.1 billion MAIFIP allocation in the 2026 General Appropriations Act to assist three million patients across facilities nationwide.
