DOLE pushes for quality, sustainable jobs amid tech changes

MANILA, Philippines — Labor Secretary Francis N. Tolentino called for sustainable and high-quality employment opportunities as technology continues to reshape the country's labor landscape.

Speaking at the 16th Philippine Association of Legitimate Service Contractors (PALSCON) National Conference and 1st Philippine HR Expo, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Tolentino said that employment policies and institutions must keep pace with changes brought by technology and artificial intelligence.

“Technology continues to transform the way work is organized and performed. Artificial intelligence is creating new possibilities… these developments remind us that our policies, institutions, and approaches to employment must likewise continue to evolve,” Tolentino said.

He also underscored the role of the human resource and service contracting sectors in ensuring that changing business arrangements continue to provide workers with fair and decent working conditions.
