MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Thursday reminded workers of the pay rules for Aug. 21, 2026, Ninoy Aquino Day, a special non-working day.
According to DOLE's Labor Advisory 13, Series of 2026, employees who do not work on the special day will be covered by the “no work, no pay” principle unless a favorable company policy, practice or collective bargaining agreement provides payment for the day.
The advisory states that employees who report for work will receive an additional 30 percent of their basic wage for the first eight hours, or 130 percent of their basic wage.
For work beyond eight hours, the advisory provides for an additional 30 percent of the employee's hourly rate on the special day.
If Aug. 21 also falls on an employee's scheduled rest day, DOLE said that work during the first eight hours will be paid at 150 percent of the basic wage.
Labor Secretary Francis Tolentino signed the advisory on Aug. 18.
