Efforts are still underway within Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s inner circle to persuade Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad to reverse their resignations from Cabinet, following their respective setbacks in recent party polls. The initiative, led by senior political secretary Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar, reflects the administration's desire to retain the two prominent figures amid ongoing political recalibrations.

Shamsul conveyed his hope that both leaders would reconsider their decisions, suggesting that their resignations were not rooted in any major conflict but perhaps influenced by emotion or personal sentiment. He emphasized that the public tends to assess political leaders based on tangible outcomes and governance, rather than internal party developments.

The appeal was made shortly after Rafizi officially ended his term by clocking out of the Economy Ministry on Thursday, just hours after Anwar himself publicly encouraged him to remain. Meanwhile, Nik Nazmi, who serves as the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, has a resignation effective from July 4, although he has been on leave since May 29.

According to Shamsul, the Prime Minister remains open to dialogue and is hopeful that both leaders will return to the Cabinet. He reiterated that no major rift exists and that any internal differences could be addressed constructively at the discussion table. The prime minister, Shamsul noted, had made it clear that their departure was not necessary and that their presence would continue to strengthen the Cabinet’s effectiveness.

It was previously reported that Anwar has opted not to rush the matter, instead offering both Rafizi and Nik Nazmi the space to reflect before making any irreversible decisions. The prime minister had expressed optimism that both would eventually reconsider and rejoin the administration.

The resignations came in the aftermath of party election outcomes that reportedly left both leaders feeling politically sidelined. However, their roles in the government are still viewed as vital by Anwar’s team, especially in navigating the coalition’s reform agenda and economic strategies.

While both Rafizi and Nik Nazmi have yet to indicate any change in their positions, the prime minister’s office appears committed to extending every opportunity for reconciliation—hoping experience, continuity, and leadership will ultimately outweigh internal political setbacks.
