KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Malaysian National Consumer Foundation (YPNM) urged the public not to politicise the recent statewide power outage, stressing it was caused by a landslide triggered by unusually heavy rain that brought down a 275kV transmission tower.

YPNM Sabah Chairman David Chan said Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) had immediately mobilised repair and recovery efforts, with power expected to be restored in stages within 48 hours.

“We urge the public to remain patient, avoid spreading unverified information and not politicise this incident, which is a natural disaster beyond anyone’s control,” he said.
