KALABAKAN: Pakatan Harapan (PH) Kalabakan candidate Noraini Abd Ghapur hopes voters will not be confused by the names of the two female candidates competing in a five-cornered tussle for the Kalabakan seat on polling day.
The other female candidate, who is contesting on the Pejuang ticket, has a similar name to the PH candidate – Nur Aini Abd Rahman, who is Pejuang head in Sabah. She also wears a Tudung.
Fortunately, Noraini said there has been no confusion so far as the spelling of both names are different, adding that Noraini’s name is at the top while Nur Aini’s is on the bottom of the name list on the ballot papers.
Additionally, she reasoned that many are familiar with her as she started dabbling in politics more than 10 years ago and often accompanied her father Datuk Seri Abd Ghapur Salleh who was former Kalabakan MP.
“Thanks be to God, so far no one has been confused but it is not certain if it will be at the polling center later, especially the elderly... But I hope there will be no (confusion of names),” she said.
Meanwhile, Noraini apologised to Pakatan Harapan (PH) supporters in rural areas especially those in Ulu Kalabakan who she could not meet due to permit constraints.
She said their visit to the interior would be well-received but not all places could be visited since they were not allowed and they respected the security forces’ duties.
