UFC Freedom 250 delivered the kind of visibility Donald Trump wanted, turning the White House South Lawn into one of the most unusual fight venues in modern sports.

The event brought major reach, a custom arena structure and a striking television backdrop, with around 4,000 spectators watching from a space normally associated with politics and ceremony.

But the success came with a predictable problem. The South Lawn was left needing restoration, and the president is already working to solve it.

Restoring the South Lawn is now a specialist turf project rather than a simple clean-up job.

According to USA Today, Trump has chosen a custom Scotts Miracle-Gro grass mix as part of the company’s $1 million commitment to help repair the area after UFC Freedom 250.

The blend was built for the demands of the White House grounds, where the grass has to cope with heat, disease pressure, regular foot traffic and the repeated strain of major events.

The work will be carried out with the National Park Service, which is responsible for maintaining the White House grounds as part of President’s Park.

The recovery plan is expected to start with fresh sod to quickly stabilise the damaged surface. After that, the lawn will be overseeded with the new formula to improve colour, thickness and durability over time.

That longer-term approach matters because the South Lawn is not just decorative. It is used for official gatherings, public-facing ceremonies and Marine One movements.
