Reading have secured the signature of Zane Monlouis on loan from Arsenal this winter.
The League One club were searching for reinforcements at the back to improve on their thin squad.
Now they have secured the 20-year-old Monlouis, who is the captain of Arsenal's Under-21 side.
The League One side have needed to react to two departures this week.
Teenage winger Taylan Harris and midfielder Caylan Vickers both left for Luton and Brighton respectively.
Reading's Tom McIntyre also joined Portsmouth earlier in the week due to the club's financial issues.
