PHOTOGRAPHY enthusiasts can now use professional cameras to capture historic streets and landmarks of Intramuros, Manila for personal and souvenir purposes without securing a permit, the Department of Tourism (DOT) said Sunday.
The new policy, introduced by the Intramuros Administration (IA) in partnership with CameraHaus, aims to make photography more accessible to visitors, hobbyists, and content creators exploring the historic Walled City.
Photographers must still observe site guidelines, including restrictions on flash photography in certain areas, to protect historic structures and museum collections.
The announcement follows the inaugural Street Summit on Oct. 24, which brought together more than 300 photographers, content creators, and visual artists for a community photowalk around Intramuros.
Organized by CameraHaus with support from the DOT and IA, the event carried the theme “Intramuros Reframed,” encouraging participants to explore lesser-known corners of the Walled City and capture its historic architecture from fresh perspectives.
The initiative highlights photography as another way for visitors to discover Intramuros, document their experiences, and appreciate one of Manila's most recognizable heritage destinations.
