DOT continues talks with BINI for tourism

THE Department of Tourism (DOT) has reiterated its intention to tap P-pop sensation BINI as the country’s tourism ambassadors as discussions between the agency and the group continue.

Tourism Secretary Bernardita “Dita” Angara-Mathay said in an ambush interview on Friday that negotiations are still ongoing, expressing optimism that the collaboration will eventually move forward.

“They would be our ambassadors, so we are currently focused on our ongoing negotiations with them,” Angara-Mathay said.

The planned partnership comes after BINI gained international recognition through its groundbreaking performance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California.

The DOT believes the group’s growing global popularity can help showcase the Philippines to a wider international audience.

Officials see BINI’s strong following, particularly among younger audiences, as an opportunity to further strengthen the country’s tourism promotion efforts.

The proposed collaboration forms part of the agency’s broader campaign to highlight Filipino talent while encouraging more travelers to experience the country’s diverse destinations.

The department has yet to announce the details of the proposed partnership as negotiations with the group remain under way.

Angara-Mathay did not provide a timetable for when the discussions are expected to conclude.

The DOT expressed confidence that the potential partnership with BINI would further reinforce the Philippines’ tourism branding once an agreement is finalized.
