A Malaysian drama actress and her husband are remanded three days over alleged RM1.5 million fraud involving land grant transactions

SEREMBAN: A female drama actress and her husband have been taken into custody and remanded for three days in connection with an alleged fraud involving land grant transactions that caused losses estimated at RM1.5 million.

The couple, aged 35 and 41, respectively were arrested while hiding at a tahfiz madrasah in Hulu Langat, Selangor, before being brought before the courts today.

Seremban district police chief Assistant Commissioner Azahar Abdul Rahim confirmed that the three-day remand was approved by Magistrate Nurul Azuin Mohd Talhah at the Seremban Magistrate’s Court earlier today.

“The remand, which runs until 5 March, was sought to facilitate further investigations under Section 420 of the Penal Code,” he told reporters.

The couple arrived at the courthouse at 9.15am, dressed in purple remand clothing and accompanied by police personnel. Before entering, the actress briefly addressed the journalists gathered at the scene, urging them to report the matter accurately.

“Please write only what is true. Do not write unverified stories. Thank you,” she said.

The case was first reported by Kosmo yesterday, following the emergence of a fraud complaint involving the actress and her husband.

The report was filed by a 56-year-old businessman on January 7 at the Seremban district police headquarters, with allegations centring on deception in connection with the sale of a land grant lot.
