Draymond Green has responded after being name-checked in a song by K-pop group Blackpink.

The Golden State Warriors forward was mentioned in the track “Me and My,” from Blackpink’s third studio album “Deadline.”

The lyric referencing Green quickly caught the attention of both basketball and music fans. The four-time NBA champion has now shared his reaction to the unexpected pop culture crossover.

Draymond Green calls Blackpink mention a ‘pretty big deal’

Draymond Green spoke publicly after learning about the lyric, admitting he was surprised to hear his name in a song by one of the world’s biggest K-pop acts.

He described it as an exciting crossover between the sports and music worlds, and admitted how much of a noteworthy moment it is for his career.

“It’s pretty exciting, man.”

“You get name-dropped in a rap song, it’s pretty fun. When you get name-dropped in a K-Pop song, you may be a pretty big deal.”

Green also mentioned that he planned to listen to the song with his children, noting that his daughters are already fans of K-pop.

Blackpink reference Draymond Green in ‘Me and My’

Blackpink made the reference in “Me and My,” with group member Lisa delivering the line. The lyric quickly gained attention online after the album’s release.

“Just me and my Day 1s, pretty girls walkin’. Golden like we Draymond, they pay us for a walk-in.”

It’s the latest pop culture moment in Green’s long NBA career, which already includes four championships and a Defensive Player of the Year award.

For Green, this shoutout comes as a rare positive in an NBA season filled with negatives, as he and the Golden State Warriors have struggled this year.
