The San Antonio Spurs secured their place in the Western Conference semi-finals on Tuesday after a 114-95 win over the Portland Trail Blazers.
The French star recorded a double-double and added six blocks, underlining his growing dominance. His impact on both ends of the floor continues to turn heads across the league.
In that context, Draymond Green has now weighed in on Wembanyama’s level. The Golden State Warriors forward explained why so many around the NBA are reacting with amazement to the Spurs’ talent.
Draymond Green says Victor Wembanyama is already playing like a ‘seasoned vet’

On The Draymond Green Show, the 36-year-old highlighted how quickly the Spurs star is developing across multiple areas.
The Warriors legend stated: “Quite honestly, Wemby is unreal. He’s starting to move more and more fluidly. He’s starting to understand the game at a higher and higher level on both sides of the ball. What he does defensively, matched by his gravity on the offensive end, you know, it’s unbelievable.”
Green went further by insisting Wembanyama is not playing like someone new to playoff basketball. He believes that contrast is what makes the situation so concerning for rivals.
“I think everybody’s speaking on their youth, but he’s not playing like a rookie. I mean, excuse me, a rookie in the playoffs. He’s not playing like this is his first time in the playoffs.
“And, you know, he’s in his third year and like, it doesn’t look like that. He’s looking like a seasoned vet out there in these playoffs. And that’s scary for everyone else,” he concluded.
Victor Wembanyama’s playoff numbers underline Draymond Green’s point
Wembanyama’s performances so far back up Green’s assessment. The Spurs star is averaging 21 points, 8.5 rebounds, two assists and four blocks per game, according to SofaScore.
Those numbers highlight his consistency and influence across both ends of the floor. Few players in the postseason are matching that level of all-round production.
However, his toughest test could still lie ahead. If the Denver Nuggets overturn their series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, a new challenge will emerge.
Wembanyama may be tasked with guarding Nikola Jokic for an entire series. That potential matchup would provide a defining measure of his defensive ceiling.
