Draymond Green’s recent comments about Steve Kerr sparked debate across the NBA. The Warriors forward suggested his coach had “hindered” parts of his offensive development during his career.

Austin Rivers strongly disagreed with that view, calling the claim ridiculous and arguing Kerr played a central role in shaping Green into an elite player.

The Warriors forward has now answered back, making it clear he did not appreciate the criticism.

Green addressed Rivers directly on The Draymond Green Show, delivering a pointed and personal response. He questioned Rivers’ standing to comment on his career.

“Austin, you and I averaged the same amount of points in high school and I say high school cause that’s when you were at your best. Should he really talk about my NBA career?” he began by saying.

He then escalated the criticism by referencing Rivers’ 2016 contract with the Clippers, when his father Doc Rivers was in charge of the Los Angeles team, linking it to a political comparison.

Green stated: “The guy received the biggest bailout in US history prior to President Trump bailing out the airlines when his dad gave him 42 million dollars.”

Draymond Green may need to clarify stance with Steve Kerr

Despite the public back and forth, attention may soon shift back to Golden State’s internal situation. Green’s original comments about Kerr remain a key talking point.

A conversation between player and coach now appears likely, especially given how widely the remarks have been discussed.

Green had previously suggested he was unsure whether Kerr would remain in San Francisco next season.

However, reports indicate talks between Kerr and the Warriors are progressing well. That context may make it even more important for the forward to explain his earlier comments clearly.
