KUALA LUMPUR - Police arrested a driver suspected of involvement in a hit-and-run that killed a motorcyclist on Jalan Tun Razak near Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) at 6 am today.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department Chief Assistant Commissioner (ACP) Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said preliminary investigations revealed the 29-year-old male motorcyclist riding a Yamaha 135LC was believed to have been rammed from behind by a car.
"The victim fell onto the road and sustained severe head injuries from the collision. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a Kuala Lumpur Hospital assistant medical officer," he said in a statement yesterday.
Mohd Zamzuri said police later located the car involved, a 'sambung bayar' vehicle that the driver had been using at the time of the accident.
He added the 30-year-old driver voluntarily surrendered at the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Police Station around 6.30 pm today before being detained under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
"The suspect underwent a breathalyser test and a preliminary urine screening. Both tests came back negative for alcohol and drugs," he said.
