
KENINGAU: A 40-year-old man died after the cement mixer lorry he was driving skidded and overturned on the road shoulder at Jalan Kampung Bariawa Ulu here on Saturday morning.
The Sabah Fire and Rescue Operations Centre received an emergency call via the NG999 system at 7.02am before a 10-member team from the Keningau Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene, situated eight kilometres away, at 7.10am.
Firefighters found the overturned vehicle on the roadside with the driver trapped inside, prompting a search-and-extricate operation.
A crane lorry was deployed to the site at 10.34am to lift the mixer, enabling rescuers to locate the victim inside the vehicle four minutes later.
Medical officers from the Health Ministry confirmed the victim was dead at the scene, and the body was extricated at 10.58am following an operation conducted alongside 10 police personnel.
