KUNAK: A 46-year-old trailer driver sustained minor injuries after his lorry carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders overturned along Jalan Kunak-Lahad Datu near Kampung Ladang Bugis early Tuesday.

The Kunak Fire and Rescue Station received an emergency call at 3.15am reporting the incident, which occurred about 13 kilometres from the station.

Senior Fire Officer 1 Muhammad Kamarulzaman said a team of six firefighters was dispatched to the scene.

“When our team arrived, members of the public had already helped the driver out of the vehicle,” he said.

The trailer, believed to have skidded off the road, spilled its cargo of LPG cylinders across the site.

Firefighters moved the cylinders to a safe location to prevent traffic disruption and eliminate potential safety hazards.

The injured driver was taken by ambulance to the hospital for further treatment. The operation ended at about 3.50am.
