KOTA MARUDU: A 36-year-old driver was killed when his car skidded and overturned in a banana plantation near Jalan Langkon, Pitas, early Monday.

Grandson Poyo, 36, who was pinned in the driver’s seat, was confirmed dead at the scene.

A Sabah Fire and Rescue Department operation centre spokesman said they received a call regarding the incident at 1.02am.

He said a team from the Marudu Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the scene of the incident and found a victim trapped in the driver’s side.

“The victim’s body was then handed over to the police for further action,” he said.
