AMPANG – Due to accidentally stepping on the accelerator pedal, a man faced a terrifying moment when the car he was driving crashed through the concrete wall of an apartment car park here on Tuesday.
Ampang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Khairul Anuar Khalid said that the traffic complaint counter received information regarding the incident at 7.55pm.
"Initial investigations revealed that the accident occurred at around 3pm when a 42-year-old local man was driving out of the parking area.
"The car went out of control after the driver was believed to have accidentally pressed the accelerator pedal before crashing into the concrete wall in front and subsequently plunging to the lower level.
"The impact caused the concrete wall to collapse, damaging five other vehicles parked on the lower ground floor," he said in a statement on Wednesday.
Khairul Anuar added that no injuries or fatalities were reported in the incident.
"All parties involved have come forward to file police reports regarding the accident," he said.
He noted that investigations confirmed the accident was caused by the driver's negligence, which led to the loss of control.
"The case is being investigated under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 (LN 166/59)," he said.
