
LAHAD DATU: Police arrested four men and seized 5.38 grams of drugs believed to be Syabu following the Op Tapis on Monday.
District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner of Police Dzulbaharin Ismail said acting on public tip off, Police from the Narcotic Crime Investigation Division detained two men behind a hypermarket in Jalan Reno Fajar at about 12pm.
Both suspects were acting suspiciously prompting the Police to carry out an inspection. During the inspection, one of the suspects handed over a folded paper containing Syabu weighing 5.09 grams and two foils.
Urine tests found that both suspects tested positive for taking Amphetamine and Methamphetamine.
At 3.20pm, the team raided a house in Taman Fajar. During the operation, the man who was on the side of the house attempted to escape and drop things on the floor.
“The team managed to detain the suspect and upon inspection found the suspect possessing 0.29 grams of Syabu, a lighter and a modified straw. The suspect was also tested positive for drug abuse.
“On the same day, Police also arrested a man after his urine tested positive for Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) drugs,” he said, adding that the arrest was made under Section 427 of the Penal Code.
According to Dzulbaharin, all the suspects were currently remanded for further investigation under the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.
