TONGOD: An attempt by a foreign national to distribute methamphetamine (syabu) was foiled after he was arrested along with another man believed to be a drug buyer during a raid at an oil palm plantation in Kampung Imbak on Wednesday.
Beluran District Police Chief, Superintendent Hasan Majid, said the operation was carried out by officers from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division of the Beluran District Police Headquarters (IPD).
He said the first suspect, a 34-year-old foreign national, did not possess valid identification documents.
“A search uncovered 52.23 grams of syabu, estimated to be worth RM5,000. He was arrested and is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for suspected drug trafficking.
“The second suspect, a 41-year-old foreign national, was found in possession of 0.24 grams of syabu and is being investigated under Section 12(3) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug possession,” he said in a media statement on Thursday.
Hasan said the Beluran District Police Headquarters would continue intensifying efforts to combat drug-related crimes and would not compromise with anyone involved in drug trafficking or drug abuse.
