A DRUG raid in Tanjung Kling, Melaka, turned chaotic when a man attacked a policeman with a machete last Thursday.

The incident at around 9 pm occurred while a team of members of the Malacca Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN) were conducting an operation related to drugs.

Melaka Tengah District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit, stated that during the raid in the Tanjung Kling area, a male suspect suddenly became aggressive.

“The 31-year-old suspect made threats and attacked the policemen using a long machete before fleeing, but was arrested afterwards,” he said in a statement.

He said the suspect will be charged at the Melaka Court in Ayer Keroh today on six charges involving Sections 324, 506 and 186 of the Penal Code for causing hurt, making criminal threats and obstructing a public servant in the performance of his duties.
