‘Drug War’ producers assure series will return after YouTube removal

MANILA, Philippines — Producers of “Drug War: A Conspiracy of Silence” have assured viewers that the six-part drama will continue after its first five episodes were temporarily removed from YouTube.

In a statement, Rein Entertainment thanked audiences for their patience and said it has been working to understand and address the circumstances surrounding the removal of Episodes 1 through 5.

The producers acknowledged the uncertainty caused by the episodes becoming unavailable, particularly as the series approaches its final chapter.

“We understand that many of you have been following the series week after week and were looking forward to seeing how the story unfolds, especially as we approach its final chapter,” Rein Entertainment said.

The company did not provide details about why the episodes were taken down, saying it was still reviewing the matter and coordinating with the relevant parties.

“At this time, we are still completing our review and coordinating with the relevant parties. While we are unable to share further details until the matter has been fully resolved, we want to assure our audiences that the series is not ending here,” the statement said.

“We sincerely thank everyone who has stayed with 'Drug War: A Conspiracy of Silence' — those who watched, shared, discussed, questioned, and supported the series throughout its run. Your continued interest in the story matters to us,” it said.

“The story continues,” Rein Entertainment said in closing.

Rein Entertainment said Episodes 1 through 5, along with the sixth and final episode, will still be released to audiences. An updated release schedule will be announced once arrangements have been finalized.

The series premiered July 30 and had released five episodes before they became unavailable on YouTube.

“Drug War: A Conspiracy of Silence,” produced by Rein Entertainment and KC Global Media, is a six-part drama inspired by true events surrounding the anti-drug campaign during the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

Ian Veneracion leads the cast, with Jane Oineza, Harvey Bautista, Romnick Sarmenta and Yayo Aguila. The ensemble also includes Lotlot de Leon, Ryan Eigenmann, Joem Bascon, Art Acuña and John Arcilla.

Directed by Shugo Praico, the series tackles the human and social consequences surrounding the country's controversial drug war through a dramatized narrative.

While the online release is being worked out, the story is also set to reach audiences through community screenings. Rein Entertainment said schools and organizations have organized screenings in the coming weeks.
