As our country is still reeling from the shocking attack of the Ulu Tiram police station in Johor which killed 2 police officers, another incident of a police station being attacked took place today, this time in Penang. However, initial investigation suggests that the 2 incidents are not related.
As reported by Berita Harian, a police personnel at the Dato Keramat police station in Georgetown, Penang was attacked at around 4 am today by a 35-year-old suspect. In contrast, the former was stationed at the police station’s gated entrance.
Attacked a policeman at the police station and tried to seize his submachine gun
The suspect was riding his motorcycle when he approached the police officer at the gate and told him to open the entrance.
When the police personnel asked the suspect the purpose of his visit to the police station, the man yelled obscenities at the policeman. He tried to trespass into the police station’s vicinity.
Not only that, the man, who is believed to be drunk, even tried to seize the police personnel’s HK MP5 submachine gun but failed.
The policeman then gave the suspect a warning and tried to calm him down, but the man suddenly removed his helmet and attacked the police personnel.

The suspect was arrested and has since been remanded for 4 days
A fellow police personnel then helped out the policeman and both arrested the suspect. The suspect suffered injuries on his face and hands following the attack and is currently receiving treatment at the Penang Hospital (HPP).
The suspect has been remanded for 4 days to assist in the investigation.
