An unidentified middle-aged man died unattended on roadside after being hit by a tempo in Zirakpur. Passersby said the man was in an inebriated state. He was hit by a tempo while crossing the Zirakpur -Patiala highway near a busy market yesterday evening around 6 pm.
Passersby said when they tried to call an ambulance, he refused to go to hospital and requested to be left alone. Locals said the victim had sustained injuries on the torso and was in pain. He spent the whole night on the roadside in pain and was alive till 10 am on Thursday.
However, as the temperature rose up in the afternoon, his condition started to deteriorate. Locals finally called an ambulance but by then the victim had died. The police said nobody informed them about the accident.
