3 Malaysia Certificate of Education (SPM) students from the Orang Asli Punan Village were taken to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Nitar aboard the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department’s (JBPM’s) Air Unit helicopter yesterday (January 31) to attend their examination.

According to a report by BERNAMA, Johor PBPM Acting Director, Assistant Fire Commissioner Mohd Rizal Buang shared that the 18-year-old students, Norfaizal Selamat, Jefzulkiflie Addy and Christie Maurinissca Clay, were taken aboard an Agusta Westland AW189 helicopter.

It is understood that the 3 students were supposed to sit for their science practical SPM exam last Monday (January 30) but it was forced to be postponed as the road connecting to their settlement had flooded.

“However, based on the consideration of SMK Notar, the 3 candidates were allowed to attend the test today (January 31). All of them will be staying at the school’s dormitory for the duration of the SPM examinations,” Mohd Rizal explained.

Currently, the number of flood victims in Johor has reached a total of 1,373 people involving residents from Batu Pahat, Kota Tinggi, Mersing and Segamat.

We genuinely hope that all those effected remain safe throughout this time.
