Tuaran: A lorry driver his co-driver survived after the lorry they were in veered off the road, crashing into a house along Jalan Tamparuli–Ranau at Pekan Nabalu on Thursday.
A parked four-wheel-drive vehicle was also damaged in the 5am incident.
However, both the 31-year-old and 19-year-old male victims were lucky as they did not suffer any serious injuries.
Tuaran District Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief, Abdul Qawie Abdul Gapar, said he received an emergency call regarding the incident at 5.03 am.
He said nine firemen and officers were deployed to the scene on a fire engine and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services ambulance.
“The two victims involved were removed from the vehicle with the help of the public before the firemen arrived.
“They were given initial treatment by paramedics before being sent to Tuaran Hospital on an ambulance for further treatment,” he said.
Abdul Qawie said the fire brigade then carried out an inspection of the location and vehicle to ensure there were no other dangers.
“The operation ended at 6.29am while the cause of the incident is still under investigation,” he said.
