Kota Kinabalu: A man and a woman were fined a total of RM10,000 each for allowing two Filipinos without any document to be in the premises under their control.

Heng Wen Jie, 34, and Mah Mei Peng, 29, pleaded guilty separately before Sessions Court Judge Hurman Hussain to the charge against them.

The duo was found permitting the illegal immigrants aged 23 and 19, who did not have any document, to be in the Ho Ciak Kopitiam at the Adika Commercial Complex in Keningau.

The offence took place at 4.30pm on Feb 2.

The offence under Section 55E(1) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 which carries a jail term of up to a year, or a fine of between RM5,000 and RM30,000, or both, for each illegal immigrant involved.

The court fined the duo of RM5,000 for each illegal immigrants involved.

Prosecuting Officer Azizah S. Ahmad from the Immigration Department appeared for the prosecution.
