
TAWAU: Two suspected drug addicts, including a woman, were arrested in separate raids on two homes in Kalabakan district on Friday.
The suspects, a 35-year-old local woman and a 46-year-old foreign man, were believed to be involved in drug abuse, said Tawau district police chief ACP Jasmin Hussin.
He said the operation, carried out by the district’s Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division, followed continuous intelligence gathering at the locations.

The second raid, at a workers’ quarters in Kalabakan around 4am, led to the arrest of the male suspect and the seizure of about 0.11 grams of syabu.
Jasmin said both suspects tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine in initial urine screenings.
“We are still tracking down other suspects believed to be involved and are stepping up intelligence efforts to investigate the active drug distribution network in the area,” he said.
Both suspects have been remanded at Tawau District Police Headquarters for investigation under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, he said.
