The USA have hosted the majority of games at the World Cup this summer, and fans from around the world are having a great time.

Scotland’s takeover of Boston for their first two group games has been very well documented, with the US city and European nation seeing their relationship strengthened greatly as a result.

Now, one bar worker in the US has revealed that Dutch fans have been left nearly in tears after they experienced the atmosphere inside his bar.

Dutch fans blown away by Kansas City bar

The Netherlands have enjoyed a solid start to their World Cup campaign, drawing 2-2 with Japan in their first match before hammering Sweden 5-1.

They are now set to play out their final group game, which they need to win to top their group, against Tunisia on June 25.

That tie is taking place at the Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, and many fans have already made their way to the city ahead of the match.

On their travels, Dutch supporters have been filling up Alley Bar in Kansas, which was decorated to resemble the Netherlands by the owners.

Now, Chris Wallingford, who helps run the bar, has revealed the overwhelming response the Alley Bar has received from Dutch fans, saying that the atmosphere has seen people ‘almost in tears’.

As quoted by KSHB, he said: “It just kept filling up, and people kept coming. There’s not a full keg in the building. We’ve tapped the last kegs we’ve had. There are some in the bar; they are stacked up everywhere.”

KSHB say that ‘the atmosphere has resonated deeply with Dutch fans’, with Wallingford adding: “Several people came up almost in tears, saying this is what it feels like to watch a game in the Netherlands, and they were so excited and like hugging everybody.”

The USA’s reputation among the rest of the world may be mixed, but locals are sure to love how much the travelling World Cup fans have enjoyed themselves so far.
