VICE President Sara Duterte on Tuesday said her brother, Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte, might be the one to run for national office, recalling that their mother had once told her to return to Davao and let him run for national office.
Duterte, however, said she and her brother, who goes by the nickname “Baste,” have not discussed this.
“I think I have mentioned this before. My mother really told me to come home to Davao and said that Baste should be the one to run nationally,” Duterte said during a press conference in Davao City.
Duterte did not identify which national position her mother had in mind for Baste, nor did she say that her brother had agreed to run.
The remark was made during the same briefing where Duterte rejected allegations by dismissed police officer Rodulfo Gracioso Jr., who said in a sworn statement that he delivered more than P2 billion in kickbacks to her from 2018 to 2022.
