MANILA, Philippines — Former president Rodrigo Duterte will not change his legal team after the International Criminal Court (ICC) rejected the request of the defense for an indefinite adjournment as it saw him fit to participate in pre-trial proceedings.
"He said he will not change it," Vice President Sara Duterte, his daughter, said in Filipino in an interview at The Hague.
In March 2025, former president Duterte was brought to the Netherlands after his arrest based on a warrant from the Hague-based ICC which had investigated him in connection with the drug war that was implemented during his presidency.
After his arrest, he appeared, through video link, before the ICC Pre-Trial Chamber One for the initial hearing on the charge of crime against humanity.
