A MALE e-hailing driver has been remanded for seven days after allegedly sexually harassing a teenage girl in Ampang, Selangor, during a roadside encounter near a local field, police confirmed.
Senior Assistant Commissioner Siti Kamsiah Hassan, Head of the Sexual, Women and Children Investigation Division (D11) at Bukit Aman, said the incident occurred when the girl was waiting for her father and was approached by the suspect, who questioned her presence in the area.
“The victim explained that she was waiting for her father. During their conversation, the man touched her cheek and ankle,” she said.
Siti Kamsiah added that the man also patted the girl on the shoulder after she confided in him about experiencing stress at school. He then attempted to hug her, which made her uncomfortable.
“The girl ran away out of fear, and the suspect subsequently returned to his home,” she said.
The teenager later informed her father about the incident, and they lodged a police report.
The suspect was arrested on Friday and is being held on remand until 9 May to assist investigations under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017. - May 3, 2025
